Most likely the oldest and most well known building at the harbour is the the Loch – it was destroyed in the past at various times so that the existing part is on the list of Historically Protected Buildings Registry. Old timers may also remember the historic crane that even in 1910 was able to lift a weight of three tons.

The inner harbour is famous among sailors and yachtsman because it is independent of the tide due to a Loch. The Yachts and Schooners are wintered here after there long journeys on the North or Baltic Sea. On the first of June weekend, the annual inner harbour festival takes place. The festival is arranged since 2001 by the society "culture workshop". The society is also responsible for the "Hamburg Culture Railways" in Harburg’s railway station. Here various events take place throughout the year.

Those wishing to visit the quarter with a bicycle can use for this two distance bike paths that lead through the quarter. One is the Hamburg – Bremen Cycle Way and the other is the Flensburg-Giessen Cycle Way
