The cityscape in Winterhude is shaped by leafy spaces, canals and splendid villas. Visitors will also find elaborately restored Wilhelminian factory architecture during their wanderings here.             

Winderhude’s Cultural Centre, Kampnagel, is famous in cultural circles far beyond Hamburg’s city boundaries and was founded after the closure of the iron factory Nagel and Kaemp. At Kampnagel you can see stagings of predominantly experimental theatre. Those who love light comedies will get their money’s worth at the Winterhude Ferry House. The Ferry House is one of the only private theatres that is run without federal subsidies. Since its founding in 1988, this theatre has made a name for itself as a classic light comedy theatre and is now firmly established in Hamburg.

The Municipal Park is one of the most important sights in this quarter and is home to the famous Planetarium. Since its renovations in 2002 and 2003, the Hamburg Planetarium has become one of the most modern planetariums in the world. Besides the usual lectures, the Hamburg Planetarium also offers multimedia shows, in which all kinds of technology is employed. A further attraction is the Oldtimer Rally around the Municipal Park, held annually in the late summer. In addition to this, numerous open air events with well-known artists take place on the Municipal Park Stage in the summer months. The largest beer garden in Hamburg is to be found at the restaurant “Landhaus Walter”, only a stone’s throw away from the Municipal Park.
