Booking a holiday apartment

With Online Booking, you can book accommodation directly without having to make an inquiry. This is a binding agreement between you and the property owner. As the tenant you can make an immediate booking to properties that this booking option applies to. You can check the availability calendar within the listing and book any available dates. To do this you must enter your information and details in our online booking form, taking into account the criteria assigned by the landlord (e.g. minimum stay, day of arrival, etc.)

With the Direct Enquiry booking system, you will send a contractually-binding request to the landlord. If the landlord confirms the enquiry within 24 hours, the booking is made contractually-binding for both parties and confirmation will be received by E-Mail. If the landlord is busy, and fails to reply to the booking within the 24-hour timeframe, they will have another 24 hours to confirm the booking. In this second period, the booking will only be created if you, the potential tenant, confirm you are still interested in residing in the holiday property. If the landlord fails to respond or wishes to decline your booking, there is no cost charged.

Depending on the property, there may be changes to the payment option required (both the Online Booking and Direct Enquiry booking systems), as well as the processing date of the booking.

With the booking request option you to make a request directly to the property owner. This is done by phone or contact form. The property owner will consider your request and get back to you with a decision. This option requires more communication (incl. booking process.) This process is done solely between you and the landlord.

Little tip: If you are looking for accommodation, and one booking option suits you more than the other, then you can filter your preferences in your search on our websites.
The availability calendar at the end of each listing indicates when the accommodation is available and when it is not. Already occupied periods are marked in red. By using the price calculator you can check exactly how much the property will cost in your desired time frame. Criteria set by the property owner, such as arrival and departure days and minimum stay, are taken into account in the price calculator. For example; a query for a period of three nights is not possible when five nights were expressed as minimum stay.
Online booking is a step by step process where requirements of your stay, such as stay duration, number of guests, are to be clarified in our booking form. Payment process and duration between enquiry and the booking taking place will depend on each property owner.

Example of a booking process:

1. The first step is to check whether the property is available in the desired time period. You can then use the tools to calculate the price. You will find these tools and the availability calendar on each property listing.

2. For the second step, you must enter your contact details.

3. The third step is to choose your desired method of payment. The options are to pay by credit card, bank transfer or Giropay. Here you will also find a detailed breakdown of the rental price to pay. You also have the opportunity to sign cancellation cover with our partner Allianz Global Assistance.

4. In the fourth step, you will receive an overview of your booking information and the exact rental rate. Then, you must agree to our terms and conditions and proceed to booking the accommodation, thus making a binding agreement between you and the landlord.

5. In the fifth step, you will receive confirmation of your booking.

This is a typical example of a five-step booking process. Other booking options are available in just four steps – where the choice of payment method is eliminated and the landlord will be informed of a successful booking.
Properties that are offered through the booking request option are not directly binding. Here you can set only a non-binding booking request (by phone or contact form) directly to the landlord. Whether or not you can rent the property for the desired period depends solely on the landlord. The further communication and the eventual booking will be directly decided upon and settled between you and the landlord.
1. Check whether your desired property is available for the period you wish, using the price calculator on the property's listing to work out the costs.

2. Enter your contact details.

3. Receive an overview of your booking and accept the terms and conditions.

4. The landlord will receive the enquiry and will have 24 hours to confirm or reject the booking. If the landlord confirms the request, the booking will be confirmed and will become contractually-binding for both parties.

If, for some reason, the landlord is unable to reply to the request within the first 24 hours there is a second part to the process. In the following 24-hour period after the original deadline, the landlord will still have the opportunity to confirm the booking, however the roles are subsequently reversed and the tenant (you) will decide as to whether you want to go ahead with the booking or not.

If the landlord rejects or fails to reply to the enquiry in the 48-hour period, no costs are charged and the enquiry is considered void.

5. Upon a successful booking, you will receive an invitation to make the down-payment for the booking which you must pay within seven days – amounting to 30% of the total amount. Travanto will forward the contact details to the landlord, to whom you should pay the remaining amount no less than 30 days prior to arrival. For bookings that are due to take place in the next six weeks, no down-payment is required because instead, the entire payment is facilitates by Travanto and will then be subsequently forwarded to the landlord.

6. Clarify the final details such as arrival and departure times and handover of they key with the landlord.
The date on which the landlord data arrives can vary. It depends on the accommodation booked and the landlord.

In any case, after your booking, you will receive a booking confirmation by e-mail. With some property rentals you will get the contact details of the landlord immediately, others only after the receipt of payment.

With a short-term arrival, where the arrival is within four days of the booking, you always get the contact details of the owner immediately after booking. This ensures that you can contact the landlord in good time to arrange collection of the keys and make any other arrangements.
The payment for online booking usually takes place immediately. When the money is actually transmitted and therefore charged to your credit card or your bank account, depending on the selected payment method and your bank.
An online reservation through our website is always binding. However, a cancellation is possible at any time but will incur a cancellation-fee. If you wish to cancel your booking, we require this in writing by e-mail to onlinebuchung@travanto.de.
After you have completed the online booking of accommodation, you will receive a booking confirmation by e-mail. In this e-mail you will find all relevant information about your booking.

The time at which you access the contact details of the landlord, can vary from property to property. In addition, there are differences in the possible payment method. You can find all relevant information on the booking confirmation so that you are fully informed of the details. If you still have questions please get in touch by e-mail to (onlinebuchung@travanto.de) or by phone on (+44 (0)33 333 61 029).
As the biller is always the landlord you will not receive an invoice from us. The property owner will issue an invoice upon request. From us you will receive an online booking confirmation by email, so that you have proof of purchase and can show the booking in writing.

Depending on the property, there may be differences in the payment method.

In some cases you can select your preferred method of payment, including bank transfer PayPal, credit card, direct and immediate transfer.

For other lodging you have no choice, and are informed only after successful booking the preferred payment method.
Whether a deposit is required or not is decided entirely by the landlord. In a few cases, it may happen that the owner requires a security deposit. However, details can be found normally in the information of the respective property, so you are informed prior to the time of booking.

In this case, distinction must be made between the online booking, the Direct Enquiry and the booking request models.

Online booking and Direct Enquiry: If you have a question about the desired property prior to booking, you can send us an email (for Online Booking: onlinebuchung@travanto.de , for Direct Enquiry: vermittlung@travanto.de) or call us on +49 (0) 40 – 244 249 0. We immediately try to reach the owner, so you usually get a reply within 24 hours.

Request Booking: Here the arrangement of the booking happens directly between you and the landlord. In this instance we have no control over how quickly the landlord responds. Usually this happens on the same day. If you wait longer than 48 hours for a response, a phone call to the landlord is usually the best solution (the telephone number can be found on the single view of accommodation). If you do not reach the landlord, you can contact us feel free; we will try to contact the landlord ourselves.
When you search without specifying a travel period, the cheapest available price for 14 nights in the property, along with any extra costs, is displayed. The displayed "off-price" then refers to the lowest price of all seasons, which is decided by the landlord.
If you have questions about your desired property, simply get in touch by phone at +44 (0)33 333 61 029 or by e-mail at onlinebuchung@travanto.de. We can contact the owner and check with them everything you want to know in advance.
If you have chosen a property that is offered as part of the request booking option, contact the owner directly and request this from them.

With online booking and the Direct Enquiry, the rental agreement is settled between the tenant and the landlord, but with Travanto acting as a mediator. Some rental companies offer an additional separate lease after binding booking.
The date you receive the contact details of the landlord depends on the intended arrival date.

In the majority of cases, you will receive the contact details of the landlord once the deposit has been received. As soon as the landlord confirms the booking, you will receive confirmation via E-Mail.

If, however, the arrival is within four days of confirmation being received, you will receive the contact details of the landlord directly. This ensures you have enough time to discuss the handover of the keys and other arrangements before arrival.
The deposit for the property should be paid within seven days of the booking being confirmed. You will receive details of how to make the payment directly after the booking has been confirmed. When the payment is debited depends entirely on the chosen method of payment and the company you bank with.
A booking made through the Direct Enquiry booking system is contractually-binding. Cancellation is possible at any time, however cancellation charges will be incurred. If you would like to cancel the booking, Travanto requires this in writing. You can state your intent to cancel the booking via E-Mail to vermittlung@travanto.de.

The cancellation fees are as follows:

- Up to 45 days before arrival: 30% of the total price.

- Up to 30 to 44 days before arrival: 50% of the total price.

- Up to 14 to 29 days before arrival: 70% of the total price.

- Up to 0 to 13 days before arrival: 90% of the total price.
After picking a free slot in a specific property's availability calendar, you will submit a contractually-binding enquiry to the landlord. The landlord will receive the enquiry and will have 24 hours to confirm or reject the prospective booking. If the landlord confirms the request within the 24-hour period, the booking will be confirmed and will become contractually-binding for both parties.

Upon a successful booking, you will receive confirmation via E-Mail with all the relevant information and an invitation to make the down-payment for the booking which you must pay within seven days. The deposit is made payable directly to Travanto, and you can choose from a range of payment options. Travanto will forward the deposit to the landlord, along with your contact details. You should be sure to pay the remaining balance directly to the landlord no less than 30 days prior to arrival. The payment method depends entirely on the landlord. For bookings that are due to take place in the next six weeks, no down-payment is required because the entire payment will go through Travanto and will then be subsequently forwarded to the landlord.

If the arrival date is within four days of confirmation being received, you will receive the contact details of the landlord immediately. This ensures you have enough time to discuss the handover of the keys and other arrangements before arrival.
If you have any questions referencing a property prior to booking it, please do not hesitate to contact us. You can reach us on +44 (0) 33 333 61 029 or via E-Mail at vermittlung@travanto.de. We will gladly contact the landlord and answer any questions you have.
Theoretically, the landlord is the bill issuer and can supply an invoice upon request. After a successful booking is made you will receive written confirmation via E-Mail so that you have proof of the booking.
